🕊️𝗜𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗝𝗿.

It is with profound sadness that Obissquasoit Bowmen announce the passing of our beloved longtime member, Charlie Myers, Jr., who left us on Tuesday, April 21st, at the age of 83.

Charlie’s relationship with Obissquasoit Bowmen was deeply rooted at a very young age — his father was instrumental in establishing the club.  From those early days, archery and Obissquasoit became a lifelong love for Charlie.  Joining as a member on May 30, 1977, he remained a devoted part of the club for nearly five decades. During that time Charlie served as our Field Captain and Shoot Secretary for many, many years. He was also our Youth League Chairman.  After stepping back from that role, his dedication never wavered — he continued to support the next generation of archer’s year after year — including this year. Charlie attended every week offering his support with the same quiet joy and dedication as when he was chairman.

Words truly can’t express our gratitude for everything Charlie contributed. Charlie poured his heart into every aspect of the club. Even the behind-the-scenes minutia; repairing targets, cutting cardboard, gluing targets to cardboard, maintaining the ranges, changing light bulbs, organizing work parties, ordering supplies like awards and shoot buttons, keeping meticulous records such as tournament scores and statistics, maintaining the club’s website, and designing event flyers — and much, much more. He worked quietly in the background so that everything ran smoothly for the rest of us. His tireless efforts, countless hours, and selfless commitment helped shape Obissquasoit Bowmen into the thriving, welcoming club it is today. His passion and loyalty left an indelible mark on all of us. In recognition of that lasting impact, we dedicated our practice and sight-in range in his honor on March 17, 2024 — a beautiful and fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of himself to this sport and this club.

The club will feel different without him there, but his spirit will live on in every arrow nocked, every young shooter he inspired, and every tradition he helped build.
